S³TAIR Project Model

The S³3TAIR Project is designed to improve outcomes for students with disabilities by improving educator skills in literacy, positive behavior intervention, and special education instruction.  These areas were chosen because they are critical to the success of students with disabilities.

The S³TAIR Project Model

Districts and schools attemptig full implementation and maintenance of effective, evidence based educational practices sometimes require more than provision of professional development and technical assistance to be successful. When success proves elusive, educators often ask for examples of districts or schools who have been successful.

A key element in the S3TAIR Project is identification and validation of effective evidence based practices in nominated districts and schools statewide. Schools and districts whose practices are validated are spotlighted elsewhere on this Clearinghouse website.

Schools and districts whose practices are validated also may apply for grants to mentor other districts/schools' practice implementation efforts. Documentation of these partnerships also will be highlighted on this site.

The S³TAIR Project's Model is based on 4 main concepts:

  1. Nomination of Practices from around NY State
  2. Practice Identification and Validation
  3. Development of Model Schools
  4. Support of Replication Schools
